    Why forms ask for it

    Some recruitment and civil-services forms require the candidate's name and the date the photo was taken to appear at the bottom of the picture, so the photo can be matched to the candidate and shown to be recent.

    How it looks

    A clean white strip is added under the photo with your name on the first line and the date on the second, in plain black letters that stay readable at small sizes.

    Which date should I use?

    The date the photograph was taken, in the format your notice asks for (for example 25-09-2026).

    Does the strip change the photo size?

    When you set an exact size, the strip is fitted inside it, so the final file still has the pixels your form asks for.
