    Who needs a photo under 20 KB?

    Many online application forms, such as recruitment and university portals, limit photos to 20 KB and signatures to 10–20 KB. The limit keeps their servers small, not your photo sharp, so it's worth doing carefully.

    Crop to the face and shoulders before compressing: fewer background pixels mean more detail where it matters. JPG is the safest format for forms.

    About 500–650 pixels wide for a typical phone photo in JPG, or larger in WEBP.
