Who asks for it

Bank exams (IBPS, SBI, RBI) ask for a left thumb impression as a separate upload, 240 × 240 pixels at 20–50 KB, and NEET UG asks for thumb impressions too (rules checked September 2026). If you don't have a left thumb, notices explain what to use instead; follow your notice.

Ink and paper

Use a blue or black stamp pad, not a pen. Press your thumb lightly on the pad, then roll it once on plain white paper from one side to the other. Too much ink fills the ridges and gives a black blob; too little gives a faint, broken print. Make four or five and choose the one where the ridges are clearest.

Photograph it

Daylight, phone held flat and parallel to the paper, no flash, and the print in the middle of the frame. Get close enough that the print fills a good part of the photo, but keep it in focus.

Crop and size it

Crop to a square around the print with a small white margin, make the paper white so the ridges stand out, and save it at the exact pixel size and KB range. On this page, choose your bank exam and Left thumb: the tool is already set to 240 × 240 pixels and 20–50 KB.

The handwritten declaration

The same forms ask for a handwritten declaration: a set text from the notice, written in English in your own running hand, not capital letters, signed and photographed like your signature. It's usually 800 × 400 pixels at 50–100 KB.
