    If it can't fit

    Very long or photo-heavy PDFs may not reach 100 KB. As a last resort the pages are saved as compact images; if even that isn't enough, you're told the smallest possible size.

    Questions

    Will the text stay readable?

    Yes, in almost all cases. Only when pages must become images to reach 100 KB does the text stop being selectable; it still reads clearly.
